Binary black hole mergers: Large kicks for generic spin orientations
We present results from several simulations of equal mass black holes with spin. The spin magnitudes are S=m2 0:8 in all cases, but we vary the spin orientations arbitrarily, inside and outside the orbital plane. We find that in all but one case the final merged black hole acquires a kick of more than 1000 km=s, indicating that kicks of this magnitude are likely to be generic and should be expe...
متن کاملBignoniaceae metabolites as semiochemicals.
Members of the family Bignoniaceae are mostly found in tropical and neo-tropical regions in America, Asia and Africa, although some of them are cultivated in other regions as ornamentals. Species belonging to this family have been extensively studied in regard to their pharmacological properties (as extracts and isolated compounds). The aim of this review is to summarize the reported scientific...
متن کاملTaxonomic updates in Dolichandra Cham. (Bignonieae, Bignoniaceae)
Dolichandra is a genus of lianas found in dry and wet Neotropical forests. The genus currently includes eight species and is well characterized by molecular and morphological synapomorphies. Here, Macfadyenahispida (DC.) Seemann is removed from synonomy with Dolichandrauncata (Andrews) L.G. Lohmann based on the presence of the hispid indument, vinaceus ovary, long fruits, and winged seeds. The ...
متن کاملMerger mania: mergers and acquisitions in the generic drug sector from 1995 to 2016
BACKGROUND Drug shortages and increasing generic drug prices are associated with low levels of competition. Mergers and acquisitions impact the level of competition. Record merger and acquisition activity was reported for the pharmaceutical sector in 2014/15, yet information on mergers and acquisitions in the generic drug sector are absent from the literature. This information is necessary to u...
